You mention getting rid of your aps-c system entirely. That K1 has an extra enhanced k5-series hiding in it, and there's no reason to be shy about using it in the interim, or even long term if you have an aps-c lens or two that you just love. If it was me with a K1, I'd keep my APS-C lenses until I got around to buying suitable FF replacements then sell off anything redundant (this is assuming no APS-C body is kept as backup). A side-moral is that even the 5+ year old sensor from the k5 series is pretty darn good (and would look even better with some noise reduction), so having to crop your K-1 down to a k5 level of performance isn't going to make you cry. The moral, to me, is given a fixed output image size, the more you crop the more noise becomes objectionable (with the caveat that you might be able to do a bunch of cropping before you even notice any noise at all). Noise reduction in LR turned completely off. This is iso1600, 1/250s out of a k5iis (and not starting with the full sensor image in the first place). The crop at each jump is approximately 2x, compared to the 1.5x crop from FF to APS-C (so more extreme). Less downsampled? We need a vocabulary to be unified and widely adopted to describe these things.īy way of example, here's the same photo three times cropped more and more, with the dimensions of the crop listed below (in pixels:P), then downsampled to a common viewing size. There are just too many good lenses and cameras out there. Damn, LBA hit me hard) to compliment the K-1. I really debated keeping it, but I just got a Sony A7ii (which I bought for my A, M, and m42 lenses. I also have these two full frames that I'm considering dealing as well (They overlap too much with other lenses I have): They're just not seeing as much use as I hoped they would. Regards,I don't think I have anything too coveted, but they are lenses that have worked really well for me in the past. That said, what do you have that you are considering letting go? We all have an LBA that need to be satisfied! I will still need a nice compliment of lenses to keep this as a back up. I have the K-7 which is now relegated to the back-up camera since I have the K-1. I can also use this lens on both my K-7 and K-01.Īlso, the K-1 has the crop mode, which allows you to automatically make your camera an APS-C sensor camera with about the same resolution as a K-5.įinally there is the back-up option. It i a great lens and I can shoot down to about 15mm FL without vignetting. I have a few APS-C lenses that I love and would not give up, and I use them on m K-1. There were a couple of lenses on APS-C that i really missed a lot when I switched to full frame.such as the Sigma 8-16 and Pentax 16-85mm Yes you do lose resolution, but the crop mode takes care of the vignetting and honestly noise wont be much of a factor (if at all). Is there anything missing? Are there any other benefits out there for using asp-c on full frame cameras? Obviously, you always want the right tool for the job, but I really am debating getting rid of my aps-c system entirely (which I love, but don't use as much because of all the benefits the K1 gives over the K3) and sticking with full frame.Do you already have a K-1? If so, I would keep your APS-C lenses and test them out in Crop mode. The cons definitely seem to outweigh the pros and don't really seem to give any reason to ever use the aps-c lenses on full frame. Those seem to be the only things I could find. Vignetting Due To Not Covering the Full Sensor I've done some reading on the subject already and have found: I've got a few apsc lenses that I actually like (but don't necessarily need) and am wondering if there is any reason to keep them. Through the weekly gatherings, music was a way to find joy and served as the foundation for what eventually became jazz. As a result, slaves had a day of rest during the week, and many near New Orleans used that time to gather at Congo Square.Įssentially, that answers the question, “Why is New Orleans the birthplace of jazz?” it was the required Sundays off that created conditions that weren’t present in many other parts of the American south. Some of the tenants barred slave owners from making the slaves work on Sundays or Catholic holidays. ![]() While many of the requirements were harsh and strict, providing slaves with few rights or freedoms, a few clauses gave slaves some rights. The Louisiana Territory had “ Le Code Noir,” a set of rules outlining the treatment of slaves. One of the main reasons it formed there was that slaves from a wide variety of nations could come together and play music, something that wasn’t always permitted in other cities or states. Jazz originated in New Orleans, primarily as it served as a melting pot for the music that ultimately led to the jazz genre. Early jazz also incorporated church hymns, slave songs, field chants, and Cuban-style rhythm. Jazz is often thought of as being founded on the musical traditions of West Africa (rhythm, “feel”, blues) and Europe (harmonic chords, variety of instruments). However, it ultimately rose to fame in the 1920s. Most feel it started in the late 1800s or early 1900s. Ultimately, exactly when the genre known as jazz began is a bit debated. In time, all of these sounds melded together, leading to the genre that became jazz. After the Civil War, formerly enslaved people from throughout the American south brought blues to Louisiana. Spiritual music was also popular during the era and made its way into what ultimately became the jazz sound. They introduced many people to various brass instruments, and the united sound eventually formed the genre known as ragtime. Marching bands were highly prevalent during the Civil War. Over time, the blending of African music and Caribbean music was joined by marching band instruments. That tradition started a bit before 1820, and it brought together people from a wide array of countries, each introducing a bit of their nation’s unique sound to the mix. New Orleans was home to Congo Square, a space where slaves would gather and play music. The beginnings of jazz actually date back to the 19th century. “When was jazz music created?” is a question many jazz fans and people new to the genre ask. ![]() The Origins of Jazz When Was Jazz Invented? If you’re asking questions like, “Who created jazz?” “What are the origins of jazz in America?” and “When did jazz music start?” here’s what you need to know about the history of jazz. Jazz is a music genre with district roots and an intriguing history, mixing a range of international styles to create a sound unlike what was ever experienced before. ![]() ![]() There are a few thousand 'rungs' that would be required to implement the whole machine, but only about ~60 that really drive the operations of the machine, that you'd need to look at to understand why it's, say, stuck on step 12 (because the robot hasn't finished running program #12) or why it won't switch to auto mode or whatever. You're right that it's just easier to read than deeply-nested parentheses and boolean logic combinations. Then at the topmost level, where most of the debugging will need to happen, I used ladder to drive the sequencer. I use structured text to implement most of the details of the subsystems I needed to build (talking to the robot, safety controller, PC, and IO), FBD to abstract those subsystems out to the level of "a robot that runs a variety of numbered programs" rather than "this Denso with this calling convention and this IO on Ethernet/IP". In Rockwell-land it was the default, in Beckhoff structured text is the default. I miss some of the polish of the text editor that comes with Visual Studio by default (no dark mode in the editor, and no CTRL+R, CTRL+R to rename instead of F2, when you do rename it brings up a dialog box instead of editing in place, and then it brings up a massive confirmation dialog with "OK" highlighted but the tab order screwed up so you have to mouse down to "OK" instead of just confirming the change that I just typed in and confirmed with the "Enter" key).ĭoes anyone want to share their Twincat 3 keyboard shortcuts (Tools-> Import and Export Settings-> Export-> Uncheck all, check only Options-> Environment-> Keyboard) and a quick reference to it? Or any other coping mechanisms? It's a text editor that's mostly standards-compliant, I can work with that. I've started writing more of this machine in Structured Text I hope no one unfamiliar with text-based programming has to maintain it but it's just so much less vexatious than their ladder editor. The Tools-> Customize-> Keyboard-> FBDLDIL.InsertContact and myriad other commands are blank by default. The Menu key on your keyboard (between right ALT and right CTRL) does nothing, neither does SHIFT+F10. You can't even access the FBD/LD/IL menu with the conventional Windows ALT+letter shortcuts, and even if you could, none of the menu items have a shortcut. Twincat 3 looks lovely in its modern Visual Studio-based environment (Dark theme FTW!) until you get to the ladder editor. Except no, that's for the obsolete Twincat 2 editor. It just feels so tedious.įortunately, Infosys has a list of keyboard shortcuts. You've got to take your hands off the keyboard, right click the edge of the editor, choose 'insert network below', right click the one-pixel line, choose 'insert contact', double click the "?" and type your tag name. ![]() In Twincat 3, everything is a mouse operation. And if there's a pattern I use frequently, I can create a template in Notepad++ or Excel to simply do some text processing and make a Sensor or Actuator or Fault routine. I can refactor a section of ladder rungs by copy-pasting the whole lot into Notepad++ and find-replacing my XICs to XIOs or changing tag names in bulk or whatever I need to do. Iinsert a contact in RSLogix 5000 by simply typing "XIC" for eXamine-If-Closed or "BST" for "Branch STart" and so on the editor is snappy and most instructions are easily memorized. I'm new to Beckhoff from Rockwell, and while Rockwell tools are a morasse of license issues and undocumented limitations and version incompatibilities and legacy code, one thing they do have going for them is their mnemonics are quick to enter.
